Lima day one, Jose took me to Surquillo. There, I tried Sophia L’Orange, my first orange wine ever. It was refreshing and tasty, not too sweet like a pink one. Later, he took me to Lima’s original audiophile bar, where Vera’s DJ sets were playing delicate music.

Jose’s friend, Pepe Moquillaza, arrived. He’s a natural wine producer from the south of Lima. The place where pisco was originally from, some of the old vinery plants from the colonial era are from that MiMO orange bottle came. Pepe is an eccentric local producer who loves wine more than his own mother. He explained to me in a short time that he produces wine like it was made in the 12th century.

Marroquin invited me, along with Vanessa, his wife, and co-owner, to visit their next event. He also invited us to try his menu and take some pictures. I went over several times to document Lima’s new scene. There was a diverse selection of food cooked over day and night: El Perro and his vegetarian dishes, some drinks, and good food with Richi from Siete. There was also the lovely couple from Arequipa, the Fat Baby guys. Cool place to get some nice wine.
